Apex Car Rental Building, Auckland Airport

  • In this project there was a fault in the manufacture of the architectural precast panels installed as the facade on the building.
  • Some of the panels did not have the correct amount of black oxide cast in the panel. These exposed aggregate finished panels had a white aggregate, and the panels without the black oxide were too light and unsightly.
  • Nawkaw was contacted to solve this appearance problem.
  • By custom blending the concrete matrix with a dark penetrating emulsion , and also keeping the aggregate clean , the problem was solved.

New Home with Mis-Matching Mortar.

  • When the brickwork was finished on these new homes it was evident that the mortar colour had varied during construction.
  • Rather than pull down the brickwork and replace it , the builder decided to take a cost effective alternative to correct the colour variation.
  • Nawkaw custom blended some of their masonry and concrete stains to a formulation and applied it by hand to the mortar surface only, resulting in a colour shift of the mortar surface.
  • The result was the mortar colour variation could not be found afterwards, problem solved!
