Building in Precast
A Tight Fit

  • Thhe architect of this 3 storey residential building in St Kilda had a challenge on his hands with narrow access on a small block.
  • The layout of the site meant traditional construction methods could not be used, so an alternative method would need to be found to achieve a contemporary ‘brick façade’.
  • A formliner was used to replicate a brickwork pattern onto precast panels which were quickly and easily erected on-site.
  • The brickwork pattern was then coloured in charcoal, giving the illusion of contemporary bricks and allowing the building to blend within the residential precinct of St Kilda.
